Associate Research Scientist, Center for Cyber Security

About the role

The Center for Cyber Security at New York University Abu Dhabi is recruiting an Associate Research Scientist for a one-year appointment to carry out state-of-the-art research in cybersecurity governance, law, policy, human factors or the socio-behavioral dimensions of security. The researcher is based mainly at NYU Abu Dhabi in the UAE and may work closely with researchers at New York University in the United States. The appointment is initially fixed for one year and may be extended depending on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct world-class research in systems security and privacy
• Write research articles and publish in top-tier conferences and journals
• Collaborate with partners such as government entities and companies to deliver groundbreaking results
• Mentor PhD, master's and/or bachelor students and help them improve their research capability
• Help the center run workshops, conferences and competitions, contributing technically and/or administratively

Required profile

• PhD in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Public Policy, Law, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Sociology, Business or a related interdisciplinary field, with expertise in a human-centric or policy/law-oriented cybersecurity topic
• At least three years of relevant experience in the field, excluding the time spent obtaining the PhD
• Excellent qualitative and/or quantitative research skills (policy analysis, empirical user studies, survey methodology, behavioral experiments)
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and in teams, with initiative
