Head of Arabic Department (MOE) - August 2027

About the role

Aldar Education, the leading education group in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a Head of MOE (Arabic) subjects to support its growing family of schools, starting in August 2027. The role leads the Arabic First and Second Language department, covering curriculum, teaching standards, staff management, assessment and tutoring.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the school's vision and attend Executive Leadership Team meetings; develop and implement departmental policies and short-, medium- and long-term plans
• Ensure schemes of work for Year 5 to Year 13 cover SEN/PoD, G&T and EAL students, and promote the identity of Arabic as a first and second language
• Create a vision for innovative learning, set teaching standards, evaluate teaching quality and promote UAE culture across the curriculum
• Manage the Arabic team's performance, hold regular faculty meetings and ensure the department contributes to ECA provision and revision schemes
• Lead International Benchmark Assessments, monitoring, evaluation and review, and ensure high-quality interventions for all students
• Organise events such as Ramadan celebrations and Iftar, and deploy staff and resources efficiently
• Maintain control of the department budget and create learning environments aligned to the school's USP
• Tutor Middle and Senior School students (Year 5 to Year 9), including registration and pastoral support, and cover for absent colleagues and invigilate exams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject with PGCE or an equivalent teacher qualification
• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience; leadership experience is desirable
• Masters in Arabic Language or education preferred but not necessary
• Offers of appointment are subject to satisfactory references and police clearance
