Associate/Full Professor – Commercial, Civil, Arbitration, IP & PIL

About the role

The College of Law at the American University in the Emirates invites Ph.D. holders to join as full‑time faculty for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Candidates will teach Commercial Law, Civil Law, Arbitration, Intellectual Property Law, and Private International Law in English (and Arabic where applicable) with a 12‑credit‑hour semester load.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver research‑driven teaching using case‑based learning, moot court, mock arbitration, and legal analysis exercises.
• Assess student performance, assign grades, and provide clear assessment criteria.
• Participate in curriculum development, regular review, and improvement of legal courses.
• Engage in academic advising, committee work, and professional/community service.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Law (or closely related field) completed by recruitment date, from an accredited U.S. or internationally recognized university.
• At least 2 years of teaching or professional legal experience in an internationally accredited setting.
• Minimum of three Scopus‑indexed journal articles or five peer‑reviewed law articles published within the past five years.
• Excellent proficiency in English (and Arabic where applicable) for instruction and communication.

Required skills

• Knowledge of legal databases and ability to integrate them into classroom instruction.
• Proficiency with web‑based and digital teaching technologies.
