ATC Technician - Dubai Metro Signalling

About the role

The ATC Technician provides engineering and maintenance services for the Automatic Train Control (ATC) system of the Dubai Metro. The role supports the ATC Team Leader in preventive and corrective maintenance across the System Management Centre, Vehicle Control Centre, central control, on-board equipment and lineside equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the ATC Team Leader with preventive and corrective maintenance of the ATC system.
• Install, service and repair signalling and train control systems in control centres, equipment rooms, along the track and on trains.
• Use hand, machine, electrical and electronic tools and technical drawings, schematics and manuals to carry out repairs.
• Replace faulty equipment and hand it over to the electronics workshop for repair.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in a computerized maintenance management system.
• Keep tools and equipment in good condition and assist in implementing complex systems or new projects.
• Perform shift and emergency duties and follow the ATC Team Leader's instructions.

Required profile

• Valid IRSE licence and certification to work on railway signalling equipment (mandatory).
• Vocational trade certificate, diploma or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an electrical or mechanical technician maintaining computer-based control and communication equipment; copper and fibre-optic cable and interface equipment experience is highly preferable.
• Good eyesight and normal colour vision; valid UAE driving licence with good driving skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of signalling principles, fixed block and moving block signalling, software-based interlocking, point machines, induction and docking loops, cab signalling displays and on-board/wayside equipment (a definite advantage).
• Ability to use and calibrate electronic test equipment and PCs for central, wayside and on-board equipment.
• Writing simple technical reports, method statements and drawings.
• Strong analytical mind, organisation, attention to detail and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
