Automation Engineer

About the role

Careers International is hiring a full-time Automation Engineer in Dubai. The engineer maintains and troubleshoots automated warehouse equipment, works closely with operations personnel to resolve reliability and safety issues, and operates in a 3-shift environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all duties safely and in line with local, state and federal regulations and company policies.
• Run the maintenance workflow: scheduling, preventive maintenance tasking and work order creation.
• Maintain conveyor systems (roller and belt).
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, including Siemens PLC and Profibus.
• Work with operations staff to deal with reliability and safety issues effectively and on time.

Required profile

• 2-year Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certification or diploma.
• Experience repairing and doing preventive maintenance on automated warehouse equipment.
• Experience with automatic storage and retrieval systems, cranes and shuttles, garment-on-hanger systems, goods lifts, elevators, DE stackers, palletizers, wrappers, tapping machines, erectors and belt conveyors.
• Experience with maintenance scheduling and planning software.
• Knowledge of TPM, LEAN, Kaizen, 5S or similar; LEAN or Six Sigma is an asset.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical and pneumatic schematics.

Required skills

• High-level electrical skills: AC/DC theory, relays, switches, solenoids, fuses, breakers, 3-phase power, NEC, motor theory and protection.
• High-level electronics: photo sensors, scanning devices, embedded controllers, PLCs, servo drives, VFDs, Ethernet devices, remote I/O.
• Electrical fault finding and pneumatic system diagnosis.
• Basic Siemens S7-400 safety PLC, Beckhoff TwinCAT 2 safety, SCADA, HMI, Profinet, EtherNet/IP and remote I/O.
