Backend Developer (Node.js, NestJS, ExpressJS)

About the role

Sharkhood Tech, a technology firm combining artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and strategic expertise, is hiring a full-time, on-site Backend Developer in Dubai. The role focuses on Node.js, NestJS and ExpressJS and covers designing, building and maintaining server-side applications and APIs with scalability, reliability and performance in mind.

Key responsibilities

• Implement new features, integrate third-party services and write clean, testable code following best practices.
• Optimize data models and queries.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers and QA engineers to deliver secure, high-quality releases.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Take part in code reviews, contribute to architectural decisions and help improve development processes and tooling.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Dubai and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication of technical ideas.

Required skills

• Strong back-end web development skills, with hands-on experience building RESTful or GraphQL APIs using Node.js, NestJS and/or ExpressJS.
• Solid understanding of OOP principles and design patterns.
• JavaScript/TypeScript and related tooling (package managers, build tools, testing frameworks).
• Basic exposure to front-end concepts and API contract design.
• Databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), caching, message queues, performance optimization and security best practices (authentication, authorization, data protection).
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker and CI/CD pipelines are an advantage.
