Business Developer – Oil and Petroleum Products

About the role

The Business Developer will drive commercial growth for Trafigura’s oil trading activities across the Middle East and North Africa. Based in Dubai, the role works closely with trading desks in Geneva and globally, leveraging the firm’s credit, structured trade finance and infrastructure capabilities to expand market presence.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and pursue new crude oil and petroleum product opportunities in the MENA region, building a robust commercial pipeline.
• Develop and execute strategic business development plans to increase market share and revenue.
• Originate, negotiate, structure and close physical trading transactions using credit facilities, trade finance and logistics solutions.
• Coordinate with trading, risk, operations, finance and legal teams to ensure compliant deal execution.
• Gather and analyse market intelligence on regional oil flows, pricing dynamics and geopolitical developments.
• Assess counter‑party creditworthiness and commercial viability of opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with national oil companies, refiners, traders and other key market participants.
• Represent Trafigura at industry events, conferences and networking forums throughout the region.

Required profile

• Based in Dubai with the ability to travel regularly across the MENA region.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to work cross‑functionally with trading, risk, finance and legal teams.
• Experience in oil or petroleum product markets is preferred.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
