Buyer – Sports

About the role

The Buyer – Sports is responsible for managing purchasing and inventory strategies for the sports category within the Business Unit. You will source, select and negotiate with suppliers to ensure high‑quality, market‑appropriate products are available at competitive prices, supporting profitability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the end‑to‑end buying process, from product selection and range building to purchase order placement and on‑time delivery.
• Conduct market, competitor and consumer trend analysis to identify opportunities for categories, price points and brands.
• Negotiate cost prices, trading terms, payment conditions, rebates and other commercial agreements.
• Review sales, stock and margin performance, identifying risks and opportunities for re‑buys, cancellations and range optimisation.
• Manage stock levels in coordination with Merchandising, Allocation and Supply Chain to align with seasonal demand and promotions.
• Collaborate with Logistics and Supply Chain to secure timely inbound flow and resolve delivery issues.
• Use SAP and Power BI to create reports on purchasing performance, supplier KPIs and range effectiveness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business; Supply Chain Management degree preferred.
• 6 years total experience, including 4 years in procurement and 2 years in retail buying.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills with ability to secure favourable commercial terms.
• Excellent analytical ability to interpret sales, stock and margin data.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP ERP.
• Proficiency in Power BI.
• Advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
