About the role
The Capacity Building Officer will coordinate and support the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of capacity development activities across the CGIAR Consortium for Red Palm Weevil Control (C4RPWC) program. Reporting to the Program Manager, the role works with all technical workstreams and participating countries to ensure training is demand‑driven, technically sound and aligned with research and scaling objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the C4RPWC Capacity Development Plan and annual training calendar, aligning with workplans, milestones and country priorities.
- Manage Training‑of‑Trainers, technical trainings, Farmer Field Schools, e‑learning modules and the Young Career Program, including participant selection, logistics, curriculum development and evaluation.
- Maintain a consolidated capacity‑development tracker, work with the MEL team to capture indicators and prepare regular reports on achievements, challenges and lessons learned.
- Facilitate regional knowledge exchange, South‑South learning and documentation of good practices, maintaining an organized repository of training materials.
Required profile
- At least 5 years of professional experience in capacity development, agricultural extension, learning and development or research‑for‑development programmes.
- Experience designing and coordinating ToTs, technical trainings, workshops, Farmer Field Schools or e‑learning activities.
- Demonstrated ability to translate scientific knowledge into practical learning materials for diverse audiences.
- Willingness to travel to project countries and strong English communication skills; Arabic is highly desirable.
Required skills
- Strong digital skills, including Microsoft 365 and online learning/training tools.
- Familiarity with Monitoring‑Evaluation‑Learning (MEL) systems.
- Knowledge of biological control, biotechnology, digital technologies, citizen science, GAP/IPM, data management and impact assessment.
