About the role
The Chief Engineer manages all engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel, ensuring the building, grounds, and physical plant operate safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include budget oversight, capital projects, preventative maintenance, energy conservation, regulatory compliance, and leading the emergency response team.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise engineering staff and oversee day‑to‑day operations in the Director of Engineering’s absence.
- Maintain and optimize equipment such as HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life‑safety systems.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs and rooms maintenance schedules.
- Control departmental expenses to meet or exceed budget goals.
- Inspect facilities, recommend repairs, renovations, and equipment purchases.
- Ensure compliance with all engineering policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- High school diploma/GED with 4 years of engineering/maintenance experience, or a 2‑year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, etc., with 2 years of experience.
- Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, and plumbing systems.
