Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Metals Manufacturing

About the role

The company seeks a senior leader to own overall business performance, revenue, margins and profitability across integrated recycling, manufacturing, trading and commercial operations in the metals sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integrated recycling, manufacturing, trading and commercial operations for aluminium and copper.
• Oversee processing of scrap into ingots and finished products.
• Develop and strengthen bulk scrap sourcing and procurement networks internationally.
• Manage domestic and international scrap trading, including pricing, quality, credit and risk.
• Develop markets and customer relationships for ingots and finished products.
• Identify new markets, suppliers, customers, trading opportunities and strategic partnerships.
• Drive plant efficiency, capacity, yield improvement, cost optimisation and quality.
• Align procurement, production, inventory, sales and logistics to maximise contribution margins.
• Lead large, multi‑functional teams across Operations, Production, Procurement, Trading, Sales, Finance, Logistics, Quality and Maintenance.
• Manage working capital, cash flow, inventory, receivables, payables and trade‑finance requirements.
• Develop long‑term business expansion strategies, including new markets, capacity expansion, JVs and partnerships.
• Monitor global aluminium and copper market dynamics and translate intelligence into commercial opportunities.
• Ensure robust governance, risk management and UAE/international trade compliance.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in non‑ferrous metals with strong aluminium and/or copper exposure.
• Proven experience across metal recycling/manufacturing plants and trading.
• Track record in bulk scrap procurement, sourcing and trading of aluminium/copper products.
• Demonstrated commercial and profitability achievements.
• Experience managing large, multi‑functional teams and senior stakeholders.
• Strong international metals‑market and cross‑border trading exposure.
• UAE/GCC experience is essential; mining or upstream resources exposure is advantageous.
