Civil Engineering Faculty

About the role

Higher Colleges of Technology is hiring a full-time Civil Engineering faculty member in Abu Dhabi. The post provides instruction in general faculty subjects and at least two specific areas of the assigned program to second-language learners, in a student-centred environment that respects students' cultures and traditions. The role combines teaching, advising, research, service and administrative duties.

Key responsibilities

• Teach courses using a practical, applied approach aligned with the syllabus and program goals, using educational technology resources and giving continuous feedback through tests, projects and assignments.
• Assess students, update grades timely, contribute to question banks and coursework assessments, and act on student progress.
• Serve as student advisor, recommend at-risk action plans, mentor students during internships and work placements, and hold regular office hours.
• Conduct applied research relevant to the division's interests and the national innovation agenda, and mentor student research.
• Prepare electronic Course Assessment Files and Course Assessment Reports, handle at least one system-wide course management task, revise courses and curricula, and invigilate assessments.
• Maintain teaching facilities, equipment and supplies, coach and mentor subordinates, and contribute to the recruitment and development of UAE Nationals.

Required profile

• A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, or a Master's degree with a professional certification and 5 years of teaching and industry experience.
• A Bachelor's degree may be considered with extensive industry experience and industry certification.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience in the relevant discipline; 3 years of relevant industry experience is preferred.
• Experience developing course curriculum to accreditation and international standards, and incorporating educational technology into teaching.
