Clinical Pharmacist (UAE National)

About the role

The Clinical Pharmacist will optimise patient medication therapy within hospital and clinical settings, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines. Working closely with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams, the pharmacist will develop, monitor and review patient‑specific treatment plans while promoting evidence‑based practice.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise junior pharmacy staff and ensure compliance with departmental policies.
• Participate in clinical projects and regulatory initiatives.
• Conduct medication reviews and histories for newly admitted patients, identifying and resolving medication‑related problems.
• Develop and present inpatient treatment plans at multidisciplinary meetings.
• Provide patient‑centred counselling on treatment options, risks and benefits.
• Review and verify medication orders for appropriateness, interactions, duplications, allergies and adverse reactions.
• Calculate and confirm pharmaceutical dosages, including paediatric doses, IV admixtures, TPN and chemotherapy.
• Liaise with healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective and cost‑efficient drug therapy.
• Interpret laboratory results to assess drug safety and efficacy and recommend practice changes.
• Document therapeutic recommendations in medical records and pharmacy intervention forms.

Required profile

• UAE national.
• Experience supervising junior pharmacy staff.
• Proven experience in clinical pharmacy within hospital settings.

Required skills

• Medication review and reconciliation.
• Pharmaceutical dosage calculation (paediatric, IV admixtures, TPN, chemotherapy).
• Formulary management and drug addition/deletion assessments.
• Drug interaction and adverse reaction assessment.
• Interpretation of laboratory test results for pharmacotherapy decisions.
