Commis 1 - Japanese Cuisine

About the role

Daikan Hospitality Group operates a growing portfolio of Japanese-inspired restaurants across the UAE, including Daikan Izakaya at Galleria Mall. It is looking for a Commis 1 to join its culinary team. The ideal candidate has extensive expertise in Japanese cuisine and proven experience in high-volume restaurant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients by peeling, chopping and slicing under the direction of senior chefs, keeping them ready for service.
• Support the kitchen team during service with cooking and plating, following established standards and recipes.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following strict hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Take part in training sessions, learn cooking techniques and seek feedback from senior staff to improve skills.
• Help organize and inventory kitchen supplies, storing ingredients properly and tracking their freshness.
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to keep operations smooth during busy service times.

Required profile

• Previous kitchen experience or culinary training is preferred but not mandatory.
• A strong desire to learn and develop skills in Japanese cuisine.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and in a high-pressure environment, managing time effectively.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
