Commissioning Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the role

McDermott International is hiring a Commissioning Engineer in Dubai. The engineer applies conceptual knowledge of commissioning to solve straightforward commissioning problems, using standard procedures and technical experience and judgment. The role reports to the Commissioning Manager and supports the Principal Commissioning Engineer in preparing home-office deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in site walk-down inspections, punch listing and testing, including troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and instrument issues
• Support the commissioning team with manuals development, spares development, first fills and consumables development, and commissioning and start-up procedures
• Carry out equipment system checks and tests, and function testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument systems
• Take part in commissioning, start-up and performance testing, and resolve operational and maintenance issues during these phases
• Supervise craft personnel needed for site pre-commissioning and commissioning, and coordinate with other engineers in the commissioning team
• Work with the client and the project team to maintain positive relationships

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering; preferably a degree or diploma in engineering
• 3-8 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant; minimum 3 years in a chemical, refinery or oil and gas process facility
• Preferably 2+ years of commissioning and start-up experience in the chemical, refinery or oil and gas industry
• Good understanding of commissioning, completions and training concepts, and basic knowledge of construction and O&M
• Able to communicate technical solutions to engineers and non-engineers, and to assess project requirements clearly
• Willing and able to travel to construction sites, including international ones

Required skills

• Proficiency in English; multi-language skills a plus
• Good computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Good organizational skills and adaptability to different discipline groups
