About the role
The Consultant Emergency Medicine will lead the delivery of comprehensive emergency care to patients with acute medical, surgical, traumatic, pediatric and critical care needs. Working within a busy Emergency Department, the consultant will assess, stabilise and coordinate treatment while driving quality, safety and education initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose and manage a wide spectrum of emergency presentations, including trauma and pediatric cases.
- Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, intubation, central venous access, chest tube insertion, procedural sedation, cardioversion and advanced life support.
- Interpret laboratory results, ECGs, radiological imaging and other diagnostics to guide treatment.
- Lead and supervise physicians, residents, nurses and allied health staff, and participate in departmental planning and protocol development.
- Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies and international clinical standards.
- Engage in quality improvement, audits, morbidity‑mortality reviews and accreditation activities.
- Provide teaching, mentorship and support continuing medical education for junior staff and medical students.
- Contribute to clinical research, publications and disaster preparedness planning.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MBBS/MD) from a recognised institution.
- Completed accredited residency in Emergency Medicine.
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine recognised by UAE health authorities.
- 5–8 years post‑board experience in a tertiary‑care emergency department, preferably with trauma exposure.
- Demonstrated leadership in emergency department settings and involvement in quality improvement initiatives.
