Consultant General Surgeon (UK CCT) - Relocation to UAE

About the role

SearchPlus HR is recruiting, on behalf of a premium healthcare client in the UAE, an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with a UK CCT or an equivalent recognized specialist qualification. The role suits a surgeon with extensive experience in general and advanced laparoscopic surgery, offering complex case management, multidisciplinary teamwork and clinical governance work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level surgical care, from assessment and diagnosis through operative management and postoperative follow-up
• Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures according to clinical guidelines and scope of practice
• Manage complex conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and abdominal wall, using minimally invasive and laparoscopic techniques where appropriately trained
• Conduct preoperative evaluations, assess risks, obtain informed consent and plan treatment
• Lead multidisciplinary discussions and coordinate with anaesthesia, radiology, gastroenterology and critical care
• Ensure postoperative monitoring, complication management and continuity of care
• Take part in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement and patient safety programmes
• Maintain accurate records and comply with UAE healthcare regulations; supervise and mentor trainees and junior staff where applicable
• Help develop surgical protocols, clinical pathways and service improvements

Required profile

• UK CCT in General Surgery or an equivalent specialist qualification recognized by the UAE licensing authority
• Substantial post-specialist training and consultant-level clinical experience
• Proven expertise in general surgery and laparoscopic techniques, and ability to manage complex cases and perioperative complications
• Current or recent professional registration and a certificate of good standing
• Strong clinical leadership, communication and collaboration skills
