Data Scientist – Team Lead

About the role

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist – Team Lead to join Klanik’s AI/ML team in Abu Dhabi. The role combines hands‑on computer‑vision development with leadership responsibilities, guiding a team through the full MLOps lifecycle and delivering AI solutions for real‑world edge deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and conduct code reviews for a team of data scientists and engineers.
• Design and implement computer‑vision pipelines (object detection, tracking, re‑ID, segmentation, action recognition) using YOLO, ViT/Transformer models, RF‑DETR and Vision‑Language Models.
• Optimize models for edge AI constraints (latency, FPS, GPU) with TensorRT, ONNX, OpenVINO.
• Manage data preprocessing, augmentation, dataset curation and annotation feedback loops for video datasets.
• Oversee experiment tracking (MLflow/W&B), model training, tuning, evaluation (mAP, precision/recall) and deployment.
• Communicate with stakeholders, define solution architecture and ensure delivery of value‑adding projects.

Required profile

• 3‑7 years of hands‑on AI/ML experience, preferably in computer vision.
• 8‑15 years of experience leading and coaching technical teams.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Proven track record of delivering AI projects from concept to production.
