Demurrage Analyst / Trading Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and commercially minded Demurrage Analyst / Trading Assistant to manage the full demurrage claims process and support trading activities. The role involves reviewing vessel documentation, calculating laytime, issuing and responding to claims, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Review charter party and sales contracts, analyse NOR, SOF and vessel timesheets, and prepare accurate laytime and demurrage calculations.
• Prepare, issue and follow up on demurrage claims with suppliers, receivers, charterers and other parties, ensuring all supporting documentation is attached.
• Assess incoming demurrage claims, verify calculations, identify errors or duplicate claims, and respond with acceptance, rejection or counter‑offers.
• Maintain a comprehensive claims tracker, coordinate with Finance for invoicing and payments, and produce regular demurrage reports.
• Assist trading functions by preparing purchase orders, sales contracts, proforma invoices and coordinating dispatch documentation with logistics.

Required profile

• Strong analytical skills with high numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of charter party terms, laytime calculations, Statement of Facts (SOF) and Notice of Readiness (NOR).
• Experience in vessel operations and demurrage claim management.
• Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, receivers, charterers and internal departments.
