Design Project Manager

About the role

A leading international architectural practice based in Dubai is looking for an experienced Design Project Manager. The role takes charge of the design programme, budget and coordination on landmark projects across the region and beyond, and suits a delivery-focused professional with an architectural background.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design projects from concept through to construction documentation and site stages
• Develop and maintain design programmes, resource plans and fee budgets, tracking progress and reporting to directors and clients
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including architectural, structural, MEP, façade and landscape consultants
• Act as main client contact, managing expectations, scope and communication
• Manage design risk, change control and scope variations, ensuring fee recovery where appropriate
• Oversee design quality, deliverables and submissions, including approvals with local authorities
• Work with design directors and project teams to deliver on time, on budget and to a high design standard
• Support international project teams across time zones and offices, and contribute to improving project management processes

Required profile

• Minimum 10+ years in architecture or the built environment, with at least 5 years in a design project management or senior project architect role
• Architectural qualification preferred, with international chartership such as RIBA or AIA
• Experience managing large-scale mixed-use, high-rise, hospitality or commercial projects
• Previous GCC experience, ideally in Dubai, with knowledge of local authority approval processes
• Commercial awareness, including managing fees, resourcing and project profitability
• Project management qualification (PMP, APM or equivalent) is advantageous

Required skills

• Knowledge of design stages, consultant coordination and construction procurement routes
• Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools, with working knowledge of Revit and BIM coordination
• Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills
