Detection Engineer

About the role

The Detection Engineer works within the Information Security department in Dubai, reporting to the Director of Security Engineering. The role designs, develops, optimizes and maintains threat detection capabilities across the organization's security platforms, strengthening monitoring, threat visibility and incident detection. Candidates with 5+ years of relevant experience are preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance enterprise detection and monitoring capabilities, improve detection automation and threat visibility, and support continuous improvement of cyber defence operations.
• Develop and optimize SIEM, EDR/XDR and SOAR detection use cases, and integrate threat intelligence into monitoring platforms.
• Support threat hunting and detection engineering activities.
• Monitor, tune and maintain detection rules and security alerts, and reduce false positives.
• Support incident investigations and technical escalations, and maintain log source integrations, dashboards and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 3-6 years of experience in SOC, Detection Engineering or Security Monitoring; 5+ years preferred for this recruitment.
• Fluent English.
• Ability to collaborate with security, IT and business teams, solve complex problems under pressure, and contribute to stronger enterprise security.

Required skills

• SIEM administration, rule creation, tuning and alert correlation; KQL and/or SPL.
• EDR/XDR monitoring and SOAR playbook development and automation.
• Threat hunting, MITRE ATT&CK knowledge and threat intelligence integration.
• Python or PowerShell scripting for security automation.
• OT/IoT security monitoring and security dashboarding and reporting.
