Director of External Media Relations

About the role

VEON, a Nasdaq‑listed global digital operator, is seeking a Director of External Media Relations to lead its worldwide media, financial communications and reputation management agenda. Based in Dubai, you will protect and strengthen the Group’s brand across all markets while supporting the CEO and senior leadership with strategic media guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global external media relations strategy aligned with VEON’s corporate and AI‑1440 transformation agenda.
• Advise the Group Head of Communications, CEO and leadership team on media positioning, message development and reputational risk.
• Maintain the media relations calendar, integrating earnings cycles, strategic announcements, industry events and market milestones.
• Collaborate with Investor Relations and Government Relations to ensure consistent, credible communication of equity and regulatory stories.
• Establish media relations standards and oversee relationships with external media and financial outlets.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in external communications, media relations or corporate affairs.
• Strong understanding of telecom, digital services and emerging technologies.
• Excellent strategic thinking, stakeholder management and crisis communication skills.
