Director, Projects and Design

About the role

This senior leadership position in Dubai covers project management, design execution and delivery, ensuring successful outcomes within defined cost, timeline and quality parameters. It also involves end-to-end project governance, stakeholder collaboration and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for project management, design execution and delivery.
• Develop design strategies aligned with the organization's vision, producing innovative, sustainable and functional spaces.
• Oversee conceptual layouts and visual schemes using AutoCAD and 3D software, in line with business requirements, branding guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Oversee RFPs, tender documentation and contractor prequalification, ensuring adherence to FIDIC contracts and local authority regulations.
• Lead interface management with MEP, Facilities Management, Operations, IT, Branding and Technology teams, and build partnerships with external consultants, vendors and contractors.
• Conduct site visits and technical evaluations of contractors, and drive value engineering initiatives.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting for design and project execution, and champion project management, contract management and compliance with local laws, regulations and safety standards.
• Mentor high-potential talent on emerging trends such as modular construction, generative design and circular economy principles.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Civil Engineering from an accredited NAAB or CEAB program; a Master's in construction management or Sustainable Design, and certifications such as PMP, LEED AP or WELL AP are preferred.
• Over 12 years of experience in project management, design and construction, including at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing Class A office towers, flagship retail or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience managing large-scale projects and cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Photoshop, Illustrator and MS Project.
• Expert knowledge of engineering standards, best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Deep understanding of health and safety regulations, civil defense requirements and sustainability principles.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder management, negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving and financial acumen for budgeting and cost control.
