Draughtsman – Electrical Design (EPLAN/ELCAD)

About the role

The Draughtsman (EPLAN/ELCAD) will create accurate electrical schematics, panel layouts, and technical documentation using EPLAN and related CAD tools. The role supports engineering and project teams by turning design concepts into detailed, manufacturable drawings that meet industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop general arrangement, layout, and assembly drawings for control and protection panels, including cubicles and sub‑assemblies.
• Prepare detailed fabrication drawings for sheet‑metal components, mounting plates, sub‑panels, and busbar systems with dimensions, tolerances and notes.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, termination drawings and panel layouts using EPLAN based on engineering schematics.
• Generate and maintain device tags, cable schedules, terminal diagrams and Bills of Materials.
• Update drawings to reflect engineering changes, site feedback and as‑built requirements while maintaining version control.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent qualification.
• 2‑3 years of experience as a draughtsman in control‑panel, switchgear or heavy electrical manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and basic knowledge of electrical components and mounting requirements.

Required skills

• Expert user of 2D/3D CAD software, specifically EPLAN, ELCAD and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Good knowledge of GD&T.
