Duty Manager – Hospital Nursing Leadership

About the role

The Duty Manager ensures quality and safe patient care by coordinating clinical and non‑clinical resources across shifts at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial and leadership guidance to multidisciplinary team members during the shift.
• Activate, coordinate and manage all clinical or non‑clinical emergencies.
• Deliver operational guidance in the absence of the Unit Manager or Head of Department.
• Achieve clinical quality targets in line with policies and procedures.
• Foster positive patient experiences by developing staff and promoting team engagement.

Required profile

• Essential: Bachelor of Nursing from a recognised institute; 3‑5 years senior nursing experience, preferably in a private acute‑care hospital.
• Desired: Master of Science in Nursing or related healthcare field; experience as Duty Manager, Shift In‑Charge or Nursing Supervisor.

Required skills

• Application of the nursing scope of practice and comprehensive patient‑care knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, quality management, risk management and financial principles.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Verbal and written communication skills in English.
