Event Architect / Event Engineer

About the role

Topaz Events Management, which creates immersive event environments through furniture, lighting, sound, LED screens and bespoke tents, is looking for an experienced Engineer / Event Architect to join its events and design team. The role develops technical and architectural solutions for events, exhibitions, stages, temporary structures, booths, branding installations and other event environments, combining engineering knowledge, CAD skills, site coordination and event-production experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design architectural and technical drawings for events, exhibitions, stages, booths and temporary structures, including 2D layouts, elevations, sections and construction details
• Convert event concepts into practical designs and prepare structural solutions for temporary structures
• Coordinate with design, production, AV and project management teams, and review dimensions, materials, loads, access and site conditions
• Prepare and modify drawings in AutoCAD, produce shop and fabrication drawings, maintain drawing revisions and review supplier drawings
• Carry out site visits and surveys, coordinate with venues, contractors and fabricators, monitor installation and coordinate dismantling
• Ensure compliance with UAE safety requirements, venue regulations and project specs, including rigging, fire safety and emergency access; support risk assessments and method statements
• Support sales, design, production and project management teams, and give technical input to estimators

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field
• 5-6 years of experience in events, exhibitions, interior fit-out, temporary structures or related fields
• Good understanding of construction methods, fabrication, materials and temporary structures
• Experience with event contractors, fabricators, venues and suppliers preferred; UAE experience highly desirable
• Willingness to work on-site and outside normal hours, and to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines

Required skills

• Strong AutoCAD knowledge (mandatory)
• Advantageous: SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit, Rhino
• Architectural and technical drawing, event structure and exhibition design, site surveying, construction detailing
