Female Sonographer

About the role

University Hospital Sharjah is recruiting a Female Sonographer who performs routine ultrasonic procedures to a technical level that ensures optimal image quality. The role also covers patient safety and the proper operation and maintenance of radiographic equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in commissioning assigned areas and their associated clinical areas.
• Maintain a record of scheduled patients and accommodate emergency cases.
• Enter and record data correctly in the Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System.
• Prepare patients for ultrasound by assessing their needs and giving appropriate instructions.
• Perform routine ultrasound examinations according to agreed policies and procedures, and special procedures under the supervision of the radiologist.
• Share after-hours and on-call duties with colleagues so that help is available within 30 minutes of a call.
• Operate ultrasound equipment for data acquisition, image reconstruction and documentation, obtaining images according to standard reporting protocols.
• Refer to the radiologist when diagnostic difficulties arise and assist with ultrasound-guided interventional procedures.
• Follow safety measures in ultrasound and the environment of care, and cover gender-related issues during examinations.
• Cover the Medical Diagnostic Imaging Department and outpatient gynaecology clinics as required, working any shift on the duty roster.

Required profile

• Associate degree or radiologic graduate of an accredited radiologic health science program.
• One year of post-graduation experience.
• Valid UAE MOH evaluation in radiography.
