Finance Controller (Commodities Trading)

About the role

The company seeks a senior Finance Controller to own financial reporting, control and performance insight for a fast‑paced international commodities trading operation. You will work closely with leadership and commercial teams to deliver accurate month‑end close, robust governance and clear trading performance reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing, delivering accurate P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements.
• Prepare management accounts, board‑ready packs and detailed variance analysis (budget vs actual, MoM, YoY).
• Build and maintain trading performance dashboards covering gross/net margin, landed cost, freight impact, demurrage, claims and profitability by deal/counterparty.
• Oversee trade finance processes (LCs, SBLCs, bank guarantees), monitor FX exposure and coordinate hedging strategies.
• Maintain cash‑flow forecasting and working‑capital visibility across AR/AP, inventory and payables.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/local GAAP, strengthen internal controls across procurement, sales and logistics, and manage internal and external audits.
• Supervise, coach and develop the finance team while partnering with commercial, operations and logistics functions.

Required profile

• Senior, hands‑on finance professional with deep understanding of commodity trading dynamics (timing, margins, working capital, FX exposure, documentation and trade finance).
• Proven experience in financial reporting, variance analysis and cash‑flow forecasting within a trading environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP, and ability to implement robust internal controls.
• Leadership experience supervising finance teams and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders.
