Forensic Medicine Consultant

About the role

The Consultant Physician – Forensic Medicine provides senior leadership for medico‑legal and forensic services within SEHA Mortuary Services. The role involves delivering expert forensic consultations, conducting death investigations and post‑mortem examinations, and supporting legal authorities with evidence‑based medical opinions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and perform medico‑legal death investigations, forensic examinations and autopsies.
• Determine cause, mechanism and manner of death using internationally accepted forensic methodologies.
• Collect, preserve, document and interpret forensic evidence while maintaining chain‑of‑custody.
• Prepare comprehensive medico‑legal reports, expert opinions and court documentation.
• Present findings to law enforcement, prosecution services and courts; act as expert witness when required.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, forensic technologists and mortuary personnel.
• Participate in disaster victim identification, mass‑casualty incidents and public health emergency investigations.

Required profile

• Board‑certified forensic or pathology physician with extensive experience in medico‑legal investigations.
• Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary teams and clinical governance.
• Strong knowledge of UAE laws, Department of Health regulations and SEHA policies.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for report preparation and courtroom testimony.
