Full-stack Engineer, AI Applications

About the role

The Artificial Intelligence and Digital Science Research Centre (AIDRC) at the Technology Innovation Institute is seeking a Full‑stack Engineer to design and deliver AI‑driven applications. You will work on end‑to‑end solutions that bring foundation models such as Falcon to real users through responsive front‑ends and robust back‑ends.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement full‑stack AI applications, including chat interfaces, document workflows, analytics dashboards, and admin tools.
• Create production‑grade user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks.
• Integrate large language models (LLM) and agentic capabilities, handling streaming responses, tool calling, citation rendering, and human‑in‑the‑loop interactions.
• Build and maintain APIs, orchestration layers, and data pipelines that connect AI services to enterprise systems and external integrations.
• Own non‑functional requirements such as performance, accessibility, error handling, and observability.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, product owners, designers, and client‑facing teams to move quickly from prototype to production.
• Establish and evolve engineering standards, reusable component libraries, design systems, and testing practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2–8 years of hands‑on experience delivering production full‑stack web applications.

Required skills

• Frontend: React (or equivalent), TypeScript, modern CSS, state‑management, component‑based architecture.
• Backend: Python, FastAPI or Flask, REST API design, asynchronous programming, database integration, external service integration.
• AI/LLM integration: experience building AI‑powered or LLM‑powered applications, including streaming responses and tool usage.
