General Accountant – French GAAP

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Accountant with expertise in French GAAP to join our growing team in Dubai. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting operations, supporting statutory compliance and contributing to month‑end and year‑end reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, record journal entries and ensure accurate financial transaction posting.
• Perform monthly bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare and post accruals, pre‑payments and other month‑end adjustments.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and capital‑expenditure documentation.
• Prepare financial reports and support management reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, French accounting standards and local regulations.
• Support VAT preparation, tax compliance and statutory reporting.
• Assist external auditors during annual audits and provide required documentation.
• Perform inter‑company reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience.
• Mandatory experience with French accounting standards.
• Previous experience at a Big 4 accounting firm.
• Fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Proactive mindset with strong time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP or other accounting systems.
• Knowledge of French GAAP.
