General Accountant

About the role

A detail-oriented General Accountant is sought to manage day-to-day accounting activities, keep financial records accurate, support month-end and year-end closing, and ensure transactions are properly recorded and reconciled. The role covers accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, reporting and audit support.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger entries, and handle AP and AR transactions
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments and adjustments
• Perform bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing, and prepare P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reports
• Monitor outstanding receivables, process supplier invoices and follow up on payments
• Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules and supporting documentation
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, and support internal and external audits
• Assist with VAT accounting and reconciliations, particularly for UAE operations, and monitor petty cash and employee expense claims
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and accounting standards, and coordinate with departments, suppliers, customers, banks and auditors

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Knowledge of UAE VAT and corporate tax accounting is preferred for UAE-based roles
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CMA, CPA or CA are an advantage but not mandatory

Required skills

• Practical experience with AP, AR, GL, reconciliations and month-end closing
• Desirable: ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics 365
• Strong Excel skills including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS and reconciliation worksheets
