General Manager – Agriculture

About the role

The General Manager – Agriculture will support the Head of Agriculture in driving the group’s overall agriculture strategy, innovation and transformation initiatives. The role focuses on improving productivity, sustainability and commercial growth through modern farming practices, data‑driven solutions and scalable business models.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and executing the agriculture strategy with emphasis on innovation, sustainability and commercial viability.
• Identify and evaluate investment opportunities in emerging agri‑tech, AI‑enabled solutions and precision farming.
• Lead transformation projects across the agri‑value chain, including digital agriculture, smart irrigation and modern cultivation methods.
• Oversee end‑to‑end agricultural operations, ensuring efficient farm management, resource allocation and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Drive R&D initiatives focused on crop optimisation, water efficiency, soil health and climate‑resilient practices.
• Build partnerships with technology providers, research institutions and universities to foster long‑term innovation.
• Develop and implement profitable business models, pursue new revenue streams and manage strategic partnerships and joint ventures.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in agricultural management or agri‑tech environments.
• Strong background in strategic planning, innovation management and large‑scale transformation projects.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee complex operations, manage supply‑chain activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Experience in business development, partnership building and commercialisation of agricultural solutions.
