Global Electrical Field Service Engineer

About the role

Baker Hughes is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Global BRUSH Team in Abu Dhabi. The role involves commissioning, installation, repair, maintenance and upgrades of large rotating electrical machines and associated control equipment for critical power applications worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Commission HV generators, motors, synchronous condensers, power management systems, electrical protection systems, excitation controllers (AVRs) and synchronising equipment.
• Perform upgrades to AVRs, PMS, synchronisers, protection relays and other control elements.
• Conduct electrical testing on high‑ and low‑voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Deliver training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and requirements; attend technical meetings on‑site and at customer premises.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments for client sites and support mechanical service engineers as needed.

Required profile

• Accredited electrical or electronic qualification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical power generation and distribution systems.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet, IEC 61850 and fibre optics (advantageous).
• Strong health, safety and environment awareness.
• Fluent in spoken and written English; able to work overseas and offshore up to 29 weeks per year.
• Self‑reliant, resourceful problem‑solver with commercial awareness.
