Graduate Trainee Internal Shariah Control

About the role

Emirates NBD is seeking a Graduate Trainee to support the Head of Internal Shari’ah Control in overseeing Shari’ah compliance across its group entities (excluding Emirates Islamic Bank). The role offers exposure to Islamic finance governance, regulatory reporting and stakeholder engagement within a leading regional bank.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing agreements, contracts, product documentation, marketing communications and customer queries for Shari’ah compliance.
• Monitor business activities and support the assessment of compliance with Shari’ah, ISSC resolutions, Higher Shari’ah Authority guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare Shari’ah compliance updates, quarterly reports, manuals, SOPs and regulatory communications under guidance.
• Develop and deliver basic Shari’ah training materials for bank staff.
• Support ISSC secretariat duties, including agenda preparation, archiving fatwas and resolutions, logistics and follow‑up on implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shari’ah or Law (essential); Master’s degree in Islamic Banking is desirable.
• Certified Sharia Advisor and Auditor qualification by AAOIFI is a plus.
• Minimum of one year experience in a Shari’ah department or consultancy.
• Good knowledge of Islamic banking operations and Shari’ah principles.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
