HBM Operator – CNC Machinist for Oil & Gas Components

About the role

Sigma Engineering Works, an engineering service provider for the energy sector, is seeking an experienced HBM Operator to run CNC Horizontal Boring Machines in its machine shop. The role focuses on producing large, heavy‑duty oil and gas components to exacting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC Horizontal Boring Machines for valve bodies, wellhead components, flanges, manifolds, spools and other pressure‑containing equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, API specifications and customer requirements.
• Select, install and adjust cutting tools, boring bars and tool offsets for alloy steels, stainless steels, Inconel and similar materials.
• Perform boring, drilling, facing, milling, tapping and contouring operations with tight tolerances.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators and CMM where required.
• Maintain compliance with API, ASME and customer quality standards, and troubleshoot machining or program issues.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance, calibration checks and housekeeping.

Required profile

• Recognized Diploma from a Higher Technical College.
• Minimum five years of practical workshop experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry.
• Proven ability to operate HBM machines and read engineering drawings.
