Head of Department Controls, Instrumentation & Telecommunication

About the role

This senior position leads the Controls, Instrumentation and Telecommunication discipline for both onshore and offshore projects, ensuring engineering excellence and alignment with client and company objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Drive engineering excellence, safety culture and high‑quality delivery across the discipline.
• Provide functional leadership to Lead Discipline Engineers and oversee all discipline activities.
• Support technical assurance, audits, incident investigations and governance.
• Manage discipline resources, optimise utilisation and support workforce planning.
• Contribute to business development, proposal reviews and work‑share strategies.
• Set vision, manage performance, recruitment and succession planning for the discipline team.
• Develop and maintain discipline processes, standards, manuals and software tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 25 years of experience on onshore and offshore mega projects (CAPEX > $2 bn).
• At least 5 years in a Head of Discipline or equivalent senior leadership role.
• Extensive experience in ASSESS, Pre‑FEED, FEED and detailed design stages.
• Proven track record delivering C&IT discipline projects exceeding 250 k man‑hours.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of ANSI, IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, NEMA, EN, CENELAC, ATEX and ISO codes.
• Expertise in instrumentation, controls and telecommunications engineering.
• Strong understanding of process safety, technical assurance and continuous improvement.
