Head of Litigation (Barrister)

About the role

The Head of Litigation (Barrister) will join the in‑house legal team of a globally regulated financial services group. Reporting to senior management, you will act as a strategic legal advisor across the firm’s regulated brokerage, payments and digital‑asset operations, ensuring legal and regulatory risk is effectively managed while supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on financial‑services regulations, brokerage (FX/CFDs), payments and digital‑asset activities.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as client contracts, liquidity provider agreements, PSP contracts and technology/vendor agreements.
• Support licensing applications and regulatory submissions in multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise on corporate governance, board documentation and cross‑border structuring matters.
• Manage disputes and coordinate external counsel when required.
• Review and update internal policies, terms of business and legal documentation to maintain regulatory alignment.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Operations and Product teams on legal risk mitigation and regulatory interpretation.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer/barrister from a recognised common‑law jurisdiction (UK preferred).
• 6–12+ years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven experience in financial services, brokerage, fintech, payments or capital markets.
• Strong understanding of regulated environments and cross‑border operations.
• Advanced drafting and negotiation abilities with a commercial mindset.
• Experience engaging with financial regulators is highly advantageous.
