Head of Risk Management - Dubai Branch

About the role

Doha Bank is looking for a Head of Risk Management for its UAE branch. The incumbent leads Credit Risk, Operational Risk (Information Security, Technology Risk, Business Continuity and Fraud Risk), Market & Liquidity Risk, Governance Risk, Credit Administration and Collections, and works closely with the Head Office Risk function. The role develops the risk management reporting framework in line with regulatory guidelines, BCBS / Basel guidelines and the Head Office framework.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement the branch Risk department's strategy, policies and procedures, aligned with the board-approved Risk Appetite Statement and in close coordination with the Head Office.
• Ensure risk management plans stay within budget and timescale, and provide timely, accurate progress reports to reporting authorities and keep relevant committees informed of significant risk issues.
• Stay up to date with CBUAE and other regulatory changes and adapt the risk framework and staffing accordingly.
• Review and revise risk policies and procedures, and work with the Chief Compliance Officer to manage governance risk and regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to common methodologies for identifying and assessing market, liquidity, credit and operational risk, and guide the team in improving risk measurement and mitigation.
• Monitor risk in capital adequacy computations and market and liquidity risk practices, review pricing, valuation and behavioural analysis of balance sheet products, and identify potential liquidity or ALM risks for escalation to the ALCO and Risk Committee.
• Oversee operational loss data collection and analysis, and work with Head Office on tools such as Self Risk Assessment, Risk Mapping, Risk Indicators and an Operational Loss Database.
• Establish KPIs, KRIs and KCIs to track departmental performance.

Required profile

• University degree in Business, Banking, Finance or a related discipline; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• 13-18 years of total experience in financial services or banking, covering the specific area of discipline.
• Prior experience in a similar capacity.
• Candidates currently based in the UAE will be considered.
