Head of Science - Noya British School

About the role

Aldar Education is recruiting a Head of Science for Noya British School, its newest flagship school on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, to join in Academic Year 2027/2028. The post provides dynamic leadership for the Science Department and delivers high-quality lessons that inspire students to achieve the best possible academic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Science Department and collaborate with colleagues, technicians and curriculum support staff to plan practical, engaging lessons meeting the British National Curriculum
• Plan, prepare and present sessions for the whole ability range, assess and observe pupils, and adjust planning and curriculum based on evidence
• Take overall responsibility for student progress, attainment and exam results, record development in school tracking software (e.g. Target Tracker), and use assessment data to inform intervention and departmental improvement
• Give detailed feedback to parents and carers at conferences and other meetings
• Enforce behaviour and laboratory safety policies, manage classes safely and act as a positive role model
• Lead the Science curriculum action group, support school events, science fairs and competitions, and run a weekly ECA such as a Science Club or STEM initiative
• Work with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists when needed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in the related subject with PGCE or another teacher qualification
• Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience within the British Curriculum, with proven leadership or coordination experience
• Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language (EAL)
• Clean enhanced DBS check, ICPC or official police check; offers are subject to satisfactory references and police clearance

• Deep knowledge of the British National Curriculum, GCSE/IGCSE and A-Level Science specifications and practical assessments
• Leadership capability, professionalism and concern for children's well-being and laboratory safety
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular and STEM activities
