IB DP Coordinator

About the role

GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi is seeking an outstanding IB DP Coordinator to join the team from January 2027. The role involves leading the implementation and development of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, ensuring compliance with IB standards and supporting student success.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the effective implementation and ongoing development of the IB Diploma Programme in line with IB standards and school priorities.
• Ensure compliance with all IB requirements, policies, procedures and assessment regulations, coordinating key deadlines and submissions.
• Support DP teachers in curriculum planning, assessment moderation and delivery of high‑quality IB teaching and learning.
• Coordinate administration of the Diploma Programme, including student registrations, examinations, internal assessments and communication with the IB.
• Work with students, parents, teachers and leadership to support subject selection, monitor progress and facilitate successful programme completion.
• Lead professional learning and collaboration across the DP team, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a subject‑related degree with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE/state licence or equivalent).
• Strong experience within the IB Diploma Programme, preferably in a coordinator or IB leadership role.
• Deep understanding of IBDP standards, assessment requirements, policies and programme administration.
• Proven ability to support teachers and students in an IB environment and drive high standards of teaching and learning.
• Excellent organisation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Collaborative, reflective leader committed to continuous improvement and the IB philosophy.
