Instrumentation & Control Engineer

About the role

Stantec is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Control Engineer to lead the installation, testing, commissioning and hand‑over of I&C systems for water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. The role involves supervising contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and delivering high‑quality, safe solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation, testing, commissioning and hand‑over of I&C systems in line with contract requirements.
• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements, ITPs and commissioning procedures.
• Conduct FAT, SAT, loop checks, functional testing and commissioning for PLC, SCADA, RTU, telemetry and field instrumentation.
• Monitor contractor progress, resolve technical issues and recommend corrective actions to keep schedules on track.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.
• Review inspection reports, calibration certificates, testing records, as‑built drawings, O&M manuals and commissioning documentation.
• Participate in site inspections, progress meetings and technical coordination sessions with clients and contractors.
• Prepare progress reports and provide technical support to the Resident Engineer and Project Manager.

Required profile

• B.E. in Instrumentation & Control or related engineering discipline.
• 10‑15 years of experience with Siemens, Rockwell Automation, PLC and Emerson DCS systems.
• Hands‑on experience on water‑treatment (WWTP/STP) projects in the Middle East.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ISA, BS, IEC and NEMA.
• Strong communication, presentation and teamwork abilities.
