Internal Shari'ah Control Specialist

About the role

Madison Pearl is partnering with a leading UAE bank to appoint an Internal Shari'ah Control Specialist to join the bank's Internal Shari'ah Control function in Abu Dhabi. The role supports Shari'ah compliance, research, consultation and training, working closely with the Head of Internal Shari'ah Control so that the bank's activities stay aligned with Shari'ah resolutions, fatwas, HSA requirements and CBUAE regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of HNW/UHNW clients in NRI or African markets, originating new relationships and expanding AUM.
• Provide tailored wealth management solutions across investment and advisory products and build long-term client relationships focused on retention and growth.
• Collaborate with internal investment and product specialists to deliver bespoke solutions.
• Support the Head of Internal Shari'ah Control in executing the department's responsibilities.
• Work with Learning & Development to assess annual Shari'ah training needs and prepare training materials on Islamic banking products, then conduct regular training sessions.
• Prepare Shari'ah research papers in line with CBUAE and HSA requirements.
• Monitor business activities and operations for compliance with Shari'ah resolutions, fatwas, regulations and standards issued by the HSA.
• Provide Shari'ah consultation on business and operational matters based on approved ISSC resolutions and fatwas, and support the implementation of Shari'ah compliance policies, procedures and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Shari'ah, Islamic Banking & Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 3-8 years of experience in Islamic banking and finance within a UAE banking environment.
• Currently based in the UAE with banking-sector experience.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of Shari'ah compliance, Islamic banking products and Shari'ah governance.
• Experience with CBUAE requirements, HSA resolutions, fatwas and/or Shari'ah standards is highly advantageous.
• CSAA certification by AAOIFI is preferred.
• Excellent presentation and training delivery skills, and strong analytical, research, planning and organisational abilities.
