IT Support and Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

The IT Support and Infrastructure Specialist will design, build, maintain and continuously improve the IT infrastructure for Nexus Group, its business units and client services, ensuring reliable, secure and scalable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build servers, networks, VPNs, identity and access solutions, and set standards for new environments.
• Deliver entity separation across Google Workspace, Slack, domains and VPNs, and create isolated client environments.
• Own the IT improvement backlog, automate repetitive tasks, and resolve root causes of recurring tickets.
• Manage patching, capacity, monitoring, backup testing and post‑incident reviews for Proxmox and Docker environments.
• Review significant IT changes, raise security and cost concerns, and evaluate vendor proposals.
• Resolve escalated technical issues, coach L2 staff and contribute to IT governance policies.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure roles.
• Production Linux administration with Docker and Proxmox (or similar) virtualization.
• Hands‑on networking experience (VLANs, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, site‑to‑site or client VPNs).
• Google Workspace tenant‑level administration.
• Proficiency in Bash or Python scripting for automation.
• Degree or diploma in IT, computer science, cybersecurity or equivalent practical experience.

Required skills

• Linux, Docker and Proxmox administration in production.
• Network design including VLANs, firewalls and VPN (WireGuard or similar).
• Identity and access management across Google Workspace, Slack and 1Password.
• Bash and Python scripting; automation tools such as n8n.
• Backup design and restore testing.
• Monitoring stacks (Grafana, Loki, Prometheus) and incident review.
• Infrastructure as code tools (Ansible, Terraform) – nice to have.
• Security certifications (Security+, Network+) – nice to have.
