Junior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Legal Counsel protects the organization from legal exposure and maintains regulatory integrity across operations, particularly in the MENA region. The role provides expert legal advice, manages risks and ensures compliance with corporate governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to employees, management and the board on a wide range of issues, and draft, review and negotiate contracts and legal documents.
• Ensure company transactions comply with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards, and monitor legal and regulatory developments.
• Advise on corporate governance, including board meetings, corporate filings and regulatory compliance, and prepare regular legal reports.
• Develop and enforce internal governance policies and identify and mitigate legal risks and liabilities.
• Manage litigation and dispute resolution across the MENA region, evaluate potential legal actions, engage external counsel, oversee the legal budget and keep detailed case records.
• Manage intellectual property registration and protection, oversee product registration in the UAE and other MENA countries, and obtain business licenses and activity approvals.
• Keep stakeholders informed of legal crises and ensure legal support is available across all operating countries.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law with 3 to 5 years of work and litigation experience.
• Licensed lawyer or legal practitioner with credentials recognized in a MENA country.
• Willingness to travel internationally for business needs.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of corporate law, procedures and local legal systems in the Middle East.
• Proficiency in both Arabic and English, including legal translation.
• Experience managing legal teams and external counsel; familiarity with international law and regulations.
