Kitchen Steward

About the role

Viya, the UAE's leading golf and hospitality management group, is hiring a Kitchen Steward for its food and beverage kitchen in Abu Dhabi. The post reports to the Chief Steward/Executive Chef and supports the smooth running of the kitchen by keeping it clean, hygienic and safe, and helps with events and functions in line with Dubai Golf standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas, equipment and utensils in line with food safety and sanitation standards.
• Clean kitchen floors, walls, drains, workstations, wash areas and waste zones, and wash, sanitise and store equipment, pots and pans correctly.
• Use the right cleaning chemicals and tools, follow dilution and storage procedures, and report damaged or faulty equipment.
• Keep a steady supply of clean utensils and equipment during service and help chefs during busy periods.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of equipment for banquets, events and functions, and transport, clean and organise china, glassware and cutlery.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene procedures, record temperatures of coolers and freezers, and manage waste properly.
• Take part in club committees, be trained as a Fire Marshall or First Aider, and apply the 4 Service Steps to internal and external customers.
• Comply with information security policies and report any suspected breaches to the IT Service Desk.

Required profile

• Grade VII education or above.
• Previous experience in a similar stewarding role in a reputable establishment.
• Experience handling kitchen equipment, china, glassware and banquet items.
• Physically fit for cleaning and manual tasks.
• Good teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work under pressure.
