Kitchen Steward

About the role

The First Group Hospitality, a Dubai-headquartered hospitality management company, is hiring a Kitchen Steward in Abu Dhabi. The role keeps kitchen and food-service areas clean, hygienic and well organised, supporting the culinary and Food and Beverage teams so that equipment, utensils and work areas are always ready for use.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, workstations, floors, walls, sinks, storage areas and service zones.
• Wash, rinse, sanitize, dry and store crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, utensils and equipment.
• Operate dishwashing and cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
• Help the kitchen team prepare and clean equipment and work areas before, during and after service.
• Handle kitchen tools, chemicals and cleaning materials according to safety instructions, and follow hygiene, food-safety and workplace-safety procedures.
• Maintain waste separation, disposal and recycling, keeping waste areas clean and secure.
• Assist with receiving, organising and storing kitchen supplies, and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Kitchen Supervisor or Maintenance team.
• Support deep-cleaning schedules, pest prevention and hygiene inspections, and attend briefings, training and safety meetings.
• Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, and coordinate with Kitchen, F&B, Housekeeping, Engineering and Stores.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward, Dishwasher, Cleaner or similar is preferred.
• Experience in a luxury, premium, private, corporate or high-end environment is an advantage.
• Physically fit, able to stand, walk, bend and lift for long periods.
• Ability to work flexible hours and basic English communication; additional languages are an advantage.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, cleaning procedures and safe chemical handling.
• Ability to operate commercial dishwashing and cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and keep consistent cleaning standards.
• Relevant food-safety or hygiene training is preferred.
