Lead Planning Engineer - Base

About the role

The successful candidate will lead and manage the Base Maintenance Planning function, ensuring effective planning, control and execution of all base maintenance activities while maintaining full compliance with regulatory, safety and airworthiness standards. The role drives maintenance efficiency through optimized planning, data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, publish and manage the Monthly Heavy Maintenance Plans covering A checks, structural inspections, cabin modifications and major repair programmes.
• Coordinate daily with short‑term planning to streamline processes and ensure seamless hand‑over.
• Provide weekly reports and analysis of base maintenance performance to management.
• Identify and implement cost‑control solutions without compromising safety or standards.
• Manage AMOS, regulatory bodies, OEMs and MCC interactions for continuing airworthiness activities.
• Analyse data from multiple sources to improve efficiency of airworthiness functions.
• Oversee daily progress of heavy‑maintenance events, highlight risks/delays and recommend corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities for task optimisation, planning improvements and cost reduction.
• Coordinate with technical records to ensure traceability, completeness and timely archiving of hangar activities.
• Provide direction, coaching and career development for the planning team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent aircraft licence; higher diploma or certificate acceptable with relevant experience.
• Training certificates or workshops on Human Factor and Safety; training in Aircraft General Familiarisation.
• Minimum 8 years experience in maintenance planning, including at least 4 years supervising planners.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft airworthiness programmes, CAMO requirements and civil aviation regulations.
• Experience with Airbus A320 family aircraft is highly desirable.
