Lifting Engineer/Appointed Person

About the role

Target Engineering is seeking an experienced Lifting Engineer to act as the appointed person for complex lifting operations on oil & gas EPC projects in the UAE. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing lifts while ensuring strict compliance with safety standards and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, control and execute all lifting activities on site.
• Select appropriate lifting appliances and accessories for each task.
• Prepare detailed lifting plans and verify that required controls are in place.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC permit‑to‑work procedures and job safety analyses.
• Maintain, inspect and certify lifting equipment before use.
• Verify load integrity, stability and availability of inspection/test certificates.
• Brief and supervise all personnel involved, monitoring performance and managing any special issues.
• Pause lifts if conditions (e.g., wind) deviate from the approved plan.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of offshore and onshore lifting experience in the oil & gas EPC sector.
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Qualified to act as an appointed person for lifting equipment, with proven ability to write and supervise lifting plans.
• Familiarity with international lifting standards and ADNOC safety requirements.
