Locum Assistant Medical Coder

About the role

The Locum Assistant Medical Coder supports the Revenue Cycle Management Department by accurately assigning diagnosis and procedure codes for hospital claims, ensuring compliance with DHA e‑claims guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and verify ICD‑9‑CM, ICD‑10, and CPT codes for inpatient, day‑surgery, and outpatient encounters.
• Create abstracts of patient demographics, statistical and medical information and enter them into the coding system.
• Review electronic statements, claim forms and operative reports to ensure correct coding and documentation.
• Communicate with physicians for code clarification and ensure queries are resolved.
• Maintain daily productivity, close insurance, corporate and self‑pay batches according to schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in any field (medical preferred).
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) accreditation.
• 0–1 year experience in ICD‑9‑CM or ICD‑10 coding.
• Knowledge of UAE health insurance policy terms and DHA guidelines (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• ICD‑9‑CM, ICD‑10, and CPT coding expertise.
• Ability to read and write English fluently.
